Accommodation

Students coming to Birmingham on the fee paying Study Abroad Programme are guaranteed University accommodation as long as they apply before the deadline of 31 July.

Unfortunately the University is unable to guarantee University accommodation for all the students participating on the Incoming Student Exchange Programme. We will endeavour to secure University accommodation for the International Exchange students who request it.

We also set aside a specific allocation of rooms for Erasmus students, so there is an excellent chance that you will be able to secure a room on campus if you apply before the deadline.

For students arriving in Birmingham for Learning Period II (January) there is usually no problem in providing University accommodation.

Accommodation options

Our accommodation includes traditional halls of residence, where meals are provided for you in a communal dining room, and self-catering flats where small groups of students live together and cook for themselves. We will also try and place students in single sex accommodation where requested. All of the accommodation is furnished and centrally heated.

Alternatively, students may decide to rent a house in the private sector. Housing Services at the University offers a list of approved landlords for students who wish to rent privately, they also run a house hunting event at the start of each year.

Further information

More information on the different accommodation options available at the University can be found on the Housing Services website at www.has.bham.ac.uk/studentaccom.

Further advice is available in the University accommodation section of the International Student’s Advisory Service website.
